Notice to the community regarding Leah B. Yoseph
Senior Vice President for Student Affairs & Public Safety Ginger Ambler sent the following message to the campus community on Jan. 8, 2025. – Ed.
Dear William & Mary Community,
In an academic year that has already brought us far too much heartbreak, I regret to share the terrible news that freshman Leah B. Yoseph died unexpectedly yesterday at her home in Chesapeake, VA.
Leah’s family has shared that she absolutely loved being at W&M. A true liberal arts and sciences scholar, her first semester here included courses in chemistry, mathematics, philosophy, and psychology. She excelled in each one. Outside of class, Leah especially enjoyed her growing friendships, as well as her membership in the African Cultural Society.
Even during this winter break time, W&M resources remain available for anyone who needs them. Counselors may be reached by phone, day or night, at 757-221-3620, or you may access a variety of services through TimelyCare, including 24/7 on-demand emotional support, counseling and guided self-care.
Once Leah’s family shares information about memorial arrangements, I will write again to share it with you. In the meantime, written expressions of sympathy can be mailed to: The Yoseph Family, 305 Lambardi Court, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
In a community as close-knit as ours, what affects one of us affects us all. Leah will be deeply missed at W&M. I know you join me in extending heartfelt sympathy to Leah’s family and friends, and to all whose lives have been touched by hers.
Sincerely,
Ginger Ambler
