Notice regarding the passing of Anthiny Deron Minor
Chief Human Resources Officer Tawanda Johnson sent the following message to the campus community on March 12, 2025. – Ed.
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to inform you of the sad news that Anthiny Deron Minor, a member of our custodial services team, passed away on February 17, 2025. We extend special condolences to Anthiny’s wife Megan Minor, who also is a member of the W&M custodial team. Anthiny joined William & Mary in May 2023, and has been a valued member of Building Services since his arrival.
Affectionately nicknamed “Trek” for his love of Star Trek and Star Wars movies, Anthiny was well liked by our student and faculty customers and his co-workers in the Sunken Gardens academic community.
Dwight Ivy, associate director of Building Services, said that Anthiny readily bonded with colleagues and referred to William & Mary staff as his “first real work family.” Always willing to provide help, Anthiny was respected for his dependability and commitment to the university. “He will be sorely missed by those of us who got a chance to know him,” Dwight said.
Anthiny’s direct supervisor, Angela Adame, wanted to share that Anthiny had a wonderful sense of humor and deeply loved his wife, Star Wars, his puppy and snacks. He was known to always carry a bag of treats, so teammates warmly referred to him as the “snack bandit.”
A Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday, March 15, at noon at All Generations Church (28 Harpersville Rd, Newport News, VA 23601). Everyone is encouraged to wear Star Wars t-shirts or accessories that they may have in honor of Anthiny.
Respectfully,
Tawanda Johnson
Chief Human Resources Officer
