Board resolution affirming W&M’s approach to evolving federal guidance
William & Mary President Katherine A. Rowe sent the following message to the campus community on April 25, 2025. – Ed.
Dear W&M Community,
The Board of Visitors today approved a resolution affirming the university’s measured, values-based and merit-based approach to evolving federal guidance, including the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
I encourage you to read the complete resolution, titled “Merit-based excellence, student opportunity and freedom from discrimination.”
This spring, I have heard from many in our community expressing their commitment to William & Mary’s mission of teaching, learning and research. I especially recognize our Student Assembly leadership for bringing forward the “You Belong” resolution. This university’s dedication to advancing our work together with thoughtfulness and belonging is inspiring.
Please continue to follow regular updates on our federal guidelines resources page.
Best regards,
Katherine
