The Art & Hatsuye Ball celebrates the Asian Pacific Islander Community at William & Mary. The ball includes performances from student groups, exhibits of student art & works, live music and more!Behind the name: Arthur “Art” Matsu '27, William & Mary’s first known Asian American student and the first W&M alumnus to play for the National Football League – one of the first Asian Americans to do so.Hatsuye Yamasaki '37 became the first Asian ancestry woman to enroll at W&M. During her time at W&M, Hatsuye was heavily involved in Los Quixotescos, serving as secretary her junior year. Her other service included Sophomore Tribunal, Indian Handbook Staff, as an intramural sports representative, member of the Judicial Council and President of Brown Hall during her senior year.The W&M in 30 series gives a 30-second glimpse into student life at William & Mary.
