William & Mary’s AI Club hosted its first Case-a-thon, a competition where students designed AI-powered web applications using open-source tools to build scalable apps with live demos. Over the course of one week, teams were challenged to create AI models capable of automatically identifying plants and animals from underwater survey images. Eleven teams competed for a $13,000 prize pool, being judged on how they applied technical skills to real data sets to build a functional, well-designed product beyond theoretical recommendations.... ... ...
