Notice on the passing of Adrienne R. Joynes
Mike Todd, executive vice president for finance & administration, sent the following message to the campus community on June 23, 2025. – Ed.
Dear colleagues,
It is with sadness that I write to share that Adrienne R. Joynes, who served in W&M Information Technology for more than a decade as a senior business intelligence analyst, passed away unexpectedly last week. She leaves behind her husband, Albert W. Joynes, Jr.; two children, Aimee McLain and Arthur Joynes; and one granddaughter.
The close-knit Data & Analytics team has considered Adrienne a cornerstone of their work since she joined William & Mary in May 2015. “In addition to her technical contributions, Adrienne brought heart to our work,” said Adrienne’s supervisors, Director of Data Analytics Marcus Nieves and Chief Data Officer Barbara Forth. “Her humility, thoughtfulness, and sense of calm shaped the culture of our team and left a lasting impact on all of us.”
Data & Analytics colleagues also credited Adrienne for her “quiet strength, unfailing kindness, and deep commitment to our mission.”
“Whether it was staying late to ensure a system ran smoothly or stepping in without hesitation to support a colleague, Adrienne was the steady, generous presence we could always count on.”
You can learn more about Adrienne in her obituary. Please join me in extending condolences to Adrienne’s family members, friends, and colleagues in Information Technology.
Mike Todd
