Fall 2025 Emergency Notification System test
The Emergency Management Team sent the following message to the campus community Sept. 8, 2025 – Ed.
Dear William & Mary Community –
William & Mary will test the university’s emergency notification system (TribeAlert) on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at 12:15 p.m., including activation of the university’s nine sirens and their public address function.
The university tests its emergency notification system at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, as well as once over the summer.
IMPORTANT: If you have not yet enrolled in the system, students may do so through this contact form in Banner, and faculty and staff may enroll in Workday through the contact tab under “view profile.”
If you hear the emergency sirens outside of a test, check immediately for additional information and instructions at W&M Emergency Alerts.
More to Know
- William & Mary delivers emergency communications through Rave Mobile Safety, and its email messages come from wm@email.getrave.com. Add this address to your contacts to aid timely delivery.
- Your personal mobile number needs to be listed first in the emergency alerts section of your Banner or Workday profile to receive TribeAlert text messages. It is important to review your profile annually.
- Notifications may also appear on WMNews social media channels (WMNews Facebook and WMNews X), visual display takeovers, the W&M Mobile app, and the Rave Guardian app.
- The goal is to reach every member of our community through at least one channel. All channels are not intended to reach everyone simultaneously.
Resources
- Emergency Response Guide – All emergency guide resources are available in the free W&M Mobile app.
- If you need help during an emergency on campus, use 911 or the mobile “Blue Light in your pocket” functionality provided through the Rave Guardian app.
