Notice to the Community
Senior Vice President for Student Affairs & Public Safety Ginger Ambler sent the following message to the campus community on Nov. 25, 2024. – Ed.
Dear William & Mary Community,
There is never an easy way to share heartbreaking news. I am writing today to let you know that one of our newest students, Lana D. Fellows, died last evening in a tragic automobile accident near her home in Florida.
A freshman from Kissimmee, FL, Lana was already creating a rich academic and social experience for herself at W&M. This semester she was studying computer science, French, and economics, and she was a member of the neuroscience club. Her other involvements included Circle K, the international collegiate service organization; Active Minds; and work as a marketing assistant at the Cohen Career Center. Lana’s family let us know that she was excited about joining Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and that she absolutely loved William & Mary.
Even as we head into this holiday break, know that W&M resources remain available for anyone who needs them. Counselors may be reached by phone, day or night, at 757-221-3620, or you may access a variety of services through TimelyCare, including 24/7 on-demand emotional support, counseling and guided self-care. Once Lana’s family shares information about memorial arrangements, I will write again to share it with you.
This is a time of profound loss and grief for our Tribe family, and for all those whose lives have been touched by Lana’s. I know you join me in extending deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
Sincerely,
Ginger Ambler
